found between the pages of my joke notebook.
my notes on the last day of the pitchfork festival:
* black tights under a romper in 90° plus weather! your commitment to sparkle motion is admirable. but ladies in full makeup - you do know we’re outside in this heat, right? okay. so quit frowning and checking your face.
* yuck sounds so much like 1995 i think their set took 10 years off of my life.
* how to dress well - a brooklyn hipster who looks like r. crumb & wants to be r. kelly.
* twin sister - they’re catchy. but i thought it was a black guy? wait, that’s twin shadow? didn’t he play yesterday? he did? so did dj shadow? good lord.
* OFWGKTA - their fans have been chanting for them for 30 minutes. somehow it goes well with kurt vile.
*kurt vile - his drummer had on a spaceman 3 shirt, so that alone is reason enough to give them a shot.
* OFWGKTA, pt.2 - tyler, the creator isn’t as scary with a broken foot.
* shabazz palaces - i love being surrounded by white people as we enjoy hardcore pro-black experimental hip hop.
* toro y moi - i know i should like him but zzzzz.
* ariel pink - he’s crazy, right?
* deerhunter - i can’t believe that i could probably run into any one of these dudes at the kroger but i didn’t see the band perform until right now in chicago, for fuck’s sake. they’re alright.
* cut copy - who are these guys and how am i just now hearing them? they’re like an australian hot chip. [i had to ask my cohorts where the band hailed from.] their high energy set + the setting sun and a cooling breeze = maybe the best set of the day?
