rode up to chattanooga yesterday with SoSure to entertain four stand up comics, two friends of one of the comics, and an older drunk man who felt free to interject his thoughts & opinions throughout the night. SoSure did great, as is becoming par for the course. he is really making a mark in atlanta and it is largely enjoyable and a touch infuriating to watch. enjoyable because he’s a good dude who knows his stuff. infuriating because i think i’ve hit a comedic wall; i feel like i’m flopping around out there. last night i spent most of my set dealing with a drunk heckler. most of us had to handle him. it wasn’t bad, it was just…unexpected. i felt uneasy. i still do. but i was pushed out of my comfort zone and i think i did okay.
on the way home SoSure chose weezer’s blue album as a soundtrack. the two of us then tried to hide how we prefer to enjoy that album - which is usually at the top of our lungs. you know that awkward super-soft singing you do when there’s someone else in the car? yeah, that. later we recognized how ridiculous that was. so guess what, pinkerton? we’re coming for your ass next and we’re blowing out our voices on you.
