i’ve been trying to hit “play” on the WTF with marc maron podcast episode with mike doughty. i’ve had the tab open for hours, for days, on multiple computers. i’ve been trying but i can’t bring myself to do it. i’m still working my way through some feelings i developed after reading doughty’s book (i’m mostly at peace with the jerkier aspects of maron, ha). it’s tough when you discover someone you like is a big ol’ jerk, but there’s something about merely reading about it that can give you a bit of distance. if i hear big ol’ jerky works actually coming out of doughty’s mouth, it might crush me. i’m not in the mood for that.
and that’s a shame, because if you told 1996-era shalewa that marc maron & mike doughty hung out & had a long conversation for everyone to hear, she would have fainted.
